A volunteer with the Mount Vernon Fire Department moves a propane cylinder away from a shed fire at the residence of Greg and Denise Coberly on CR NW 1081 on Sunday, July 25. The fire spread to a nearby tree and ingnited the grass. The couple’s home was not damaged. The Mount Vernon and the North Franklin Volunteer Departments teamed up to battle the blaze. Local volunteer fire departments responded to eight fire calls over the past week. South Franklin Volunteer Fire Department personnel were called out to assist in blocking CR SW4380 after a gas leak was discovered in the New Hope field on Sunday, July 25.
