Mount Vernon Optic-Herald

A unanimous vote of the Mount Vernon City Council adopted an ordinance to preserve and protect trees in public areas. The earlier ordinance met with strong citizen opposition and divided the council. The council responded to public outcry to leave the control of trees on private property out of the ordinance. See the Aug. 5 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details.
