Local candidates listed on the November 2010 General Election ballot in Franklin County met the deadline to file their last Campaign Finance Report before election day.
According to the reports filed by Monday, Oct. 25, a total of $40,493.31 has been spent by the 13 candidates in their quest to win their various offices.
The evidence of the biggest ticket item is apparent on the highways and byways throughout the county. The candidates spent $15,862.18 on campaign signs. Newspaper advertising came in second with $11,145.86 being spent in Mount Vernon and Winnsboro. The remainder of the dollars has gone for printing, novelty items, postage, and office supplies.
The reports are required to be filed with Voter Registrar Sue Ann Harper at various intervals depending on the amount of donations received and funds expended during the course of a political campaign.
