The Black History Month program, sponsored by the Black Onyx Club, Inc. is at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 12 at the Cultural Arts Center. The program is in celebration of February as Black History Month and to commemorate the contributions of black citizens to America.
The guest speaker for the event will be the Rev. Dr. W. G. Lacy, pastor of Denton Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Unfolding the Past, Addressing the Future ... Knowing, Accepting, Changing.” Recognition will be given at the event for the oldest black citizens and those providing outstanding community service. The public is invited to attend the program.
