The fifth annual American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Franklin County is a celebration of cancer survivorship and a fun way to raise vital funds needed to help find a cure for cancer. The event is set for the night of Friday, April 29 through Saturday morning, April 30. Participants will celebrate the lives of local residents who have survived cancer, while offering the hope of finding a cure. More than 240 walkers and committee members are hoping to raise $65,000 to benefit the American Cancer Society. The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a survivors’ lap where cancer survivors will take a victory lap around the track at Don Meredith Stadium. For more details, see the April 28 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
