An 18-wheeler westbound on I-30 around 9 a.m. on Friday, April 29 tore through the guard rail, veered into the median, and flew off between the I-30 bridges onto Spur 423.
The cab portion of the vehicle climbed nearly to the top of the embankment on the west side of the spur before coming to a stop. The trailer portion split open when it landed on the spur and its contents were spread across the intersection.
One westbound lane of I-30 was shut down for just more than an hour. The intersection to Spur 423 and the access roads to I-30 were closed until after 4:30 p.m. as the wreckage from the accident was cleaned. For more information see the May 5 Edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
