When Petty Officer Thomas Trujillo returned to Denver from his second deployment to Iraq with the United States Naval Reserves, he was concerned for the myriad of expenses and needs of fellow veterans and active duty soldiers.
His concerns moved him to form “One Soldier’s Dream”, a nonprofit corporation, to help meet some of those needs. PO Trujillo brought his emphasis of that cause to Franklin County as he jogged across the county last Sunday.
“I am doing this walk to help my fellow soldiers and their families during the tough times of deployment,” explained PO Trujillo.
The walk /jog across the United States was begun on Feb. 1, 2011. The trip, which started at the Santa Monica Pier in California, will have a conclusion in Washington, D.C. around July 4. He covers between 30-40 miles a day on his route. For more information, see the May 5 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
