A Franklin County man was injured in a shoot out with law enforcement officers Monday evening and now faces felony charges. Rue Merle Smith, age 61 of Franklin County, is charged with attempted capital murder and aggravated kidnapping. According to Franklin County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Chris Mars, the incident started after his wife, Vanessa, came home from work around 5:30 p.m. to the rural residence off FM 21 near FM 3007.
