The identity of a body found in the trunk of a burned out vehicle remains undetermined.
The burned vehicle was discovered shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday, May 21. A farmhand from the Cox Dairy saw the car about 100 feet down a pasture access lane west off CR SW3270. Franklin County Deputy John Grantham discovered the charred remains of a human body in the trunk of the auto. Investigator Deputy Robert Zinn is the local investigator for the case.
The remains were collected and taken to the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas for examination. For more information, see the May 26 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
