City council sweating who will have leadership roles

Print

Observers, who stood outside in the heat during an hour and 45 minute executive session, may have had moist underarms, but it was the members of the Mount Vernon City Council who were sweating. The council is sweating who will carry two leadership roles, the position of mayor and the position of city administrator or interim city administrator. The appointments of both officials were tabled by the council after their executive session. A bulk of the meeting was with the city’s attorney, Kerry Wooten of Mount Pleasant. Another section of the session was asking advice from a former city administrator and councilman Eddie Turner. When asked if he was offered either of the jobs, Mr. Turner said no appointments were offered him. For more information on the council, see the June 9 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
