James Dappen holds a flagpole as Carolyn Teague attaches one of the many U. S. flags that honor local veterans. About a dozen volunteers descended upon the downtown plaza early Tuesday morning to erect more than 40 flags to celebrate Flag Day. The flags honor veterans from Franklin County and are flown several times throughout the year.
