Donations are being sought to fund the annual Independence Day weekend fire works show on Lake Cypress Springs. All contributions over the cost of the materials for the show are donated to the South Franklin Volunteer Fire Department. Donations for the fireworks show can be mailed to Eric Boltz at 11122 Edgemere Rd. Dallas, Tex.75230. Support can be sent direct to the SFVFD at 264 FM 3357, Scroggins, Tex. 75480.  
This year’s event is set for 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 2.  Patriotic music will be aired from 9 to 10 p.m. by local radio stations. An estimated 10,000 to 15,000 people view the show annually. For more information, see the June 16 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
