The draft of the 2012 budget that members of the Franklin County Commissioners Court began considering at  their Wednesday, July 27 budget workshop was riddled with holes and questions. The group discussed reducing the local tax rate. A point of contention was the amount of funding for the completion of the County Sports Complex. An increase in the local road materials budgets was also discussed.
“I filed a balanced budget with no tax increase,” stated  Franklin County Judge Paul Lovier, who is the county’s chief financial officer. For more information on the county budget, see the Aug. 4 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
