Franklin County Commissioners began work on Nila St. Tuesday, Aug. 9 after the approval was granted last week from the City of Mount Vernon to work with the county on repairing some of their streets. Total rehabilitation is planned for Fleming St. The three tenths of a mile long stretch to be reworked runs from just west of Hunnicutt St. to Red Bird St. James and Vatra streets will also be reworked due to their close proximity and condition. Nila was in the top five for prioritized streets by the city street committee. Delays can be expected in the area for the next couple of weeks while the work is completed.
