Mount Vernon Optic-Herald

The Franklin County Water District voted unanimously to  set its tax rate for 2011 at the same as the 2010 rate. The adopted rate of $.0279 per $100 of taxable value will generate $297,609.78. The district taxes only for debt service and not general operation of the district. It needs $300,863 to pay its 2012 principal and interest on the $3.8 million in bonds issued in 2008 for repair and widening of the dam on Lake Cypress Springs.
