A National Moment of Remembrance of the September 11, 2001 attacks calls for a nationwide tribute to begin at noon Central Time on September 11, 2011. This year, the 10-year anniversary of the attacks, the tribute will last for one full minute. Rather than a moment of silence, the commemoration will involve sounding police and firefighter sirens and bells. The tribute in particular recognizes the sacrifice made by first responders, who that day and everyday across the nation answer the call to duty. See the September 8 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details about the remembrance.
