A large white shroud was erected around the water tower during the sandblasting and painting of its exterior.
It was described as a weird alien or a UFO wearing a spaghetti strap prom dress. A $250,000 grant covered the cost of the restoration that was completed in September. See 2011 in review in the January 5 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
