Franklin County Deputy Sheriff J. D. Jackson, right, points out the pole cutter confiscated at the site of an attempted copper theft to Sheriff Paul Fletcher.
The instrument is often used by copper thieves to remove copper lines from electrical poles in rural areas. This extension pole, assembled in four six foot sections, carries a heavy duty cutting tool on the top end with rope to pull the blade.
