Mount Vernon Mayor Margaret Sears received a call from State Rep. George Lavender late last week. The call was to apprise the mayor that the widening of Hwy. 37 had been given priority status with the Texas Department of Transportation.
“This is exciting news for Mount Vernon and Franklin County,” stressed Mayor Sears. “We’ve [individuals and elected officials] been working for this for so long.”
