Mount Vernon Optic-Herald

Franklin County was one of  50 counties designated as contiguous disaster counties in Texas due to drought and heat. The county is contiguous to several of the 157 primary disaster counties declared on Wednesday, Jan. 9 by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Secretarial Disaster Designation process.
