Voters will head for the polls on Saturday, May 9 to fill board of trustee seats at for location school districts. The polls will open at 7 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m. that evening.
There are four candidates seeking election to two seats on the MVISD board. Candidates on the ballot are incumbent Bert Edmondson and challengers Tyler Banister, Jim Kober, and Kenneth Shelton. For more information, see the May 7 edition of the Optic-Herald.
Mount Vernon Independent School District voters will vote at one of three locations. Voters north of White Oak Creek will vote in Hagansport at the Community Center. Only those living in the Mount Vernon School District and in voting precinct 102, will vote at Hagansport. Voters who live south of Cypress Creek will vote at the South Franklin Precinct Barn. Those voting precincts are 302 and 402. Some residents of the western areas of precinct 302 are in the Winnsboro School District and are not eligible to vote. All other voting precincts, 101, 201, 202, 301 and 401 will vote at City Hall in Mount Vernon. The election judge for this location is Wanda Johnson. The alternate judge is Lori Valdez.
