Control of the location of beer and wine sales was put into place by the Mount Vernon City Council at their Monday, March 11 meeting. The ordinance was adopted in anticipation of the upcoming beer and wine election on May 11. The ordinance amends the city’s regulations to those set out by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code. It also sets forth the local licensing of sellers of beer and wine, the areas in which sales will be allowed/not allowed, regulation of signs at those businesses, hours of sales and penalties for not adhering to those regulations.
