Members of the Mount Vernon Fellowship of Christian Athletes group will be joining thousands of other youth on athletic fields all across America on Wednesday, Oct. 14 to share their Christian faith with fellow students during the fifth annual “Fields of Faith” event.

Class of 1999 reunion planned
The Mount Vernon High School Class of 1999 will have their 10 year reunion on Saturday, Oct. 10.
FFA sale underway
The annual Mount Vernon FFA fruit and meat sale is currently underway. Anyone interested in ordering fruit or meat should contact any local FFA member or the FFA instructor, David Maxton at 903-537-4781. See the Oct. 1 edition of the Optic-Herald for a listing of items available for purchase.
Student Chamber
Approximately 30 Mount Vernon High School students
attended the annual Student Chamber of Commerce Picnic conducted by the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
FFA projects sought
Instructors for the Mount Vernon FFA are currently seeking projects for the students in the ag program to build. Anyone who has a project, large or small, that they would like to have built is encouraged to contact the ag department
