Neal Blevins was awarded a $1,000 Spalding Scholarship by the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation. Mr. Blevins is a 2009 graduate of Mount Vernon High School

The City of Mount Vernon and Mount Vernon Independent School District (ISD) want to encourage children to walk to school, and are planning ways to make it safer.

Mount Vernon Junior High and High School have set an Open House from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28 on their respective campuses.
