The Mount Vernon High School class of 1969 plans a 40th year reunion on Sept. 25-26 during homecoming weekend for Mount Vernon High School. Activities will begin during the football game on Friday night. For more details, see the Sept. 24 edition of the Optic-Herald.

Crews worked to smooth concrete for the drives surrounding the new elementary school. Construction on the project is progressing rapidly.

Jack D. Henry, Mary Nell Mince Henry Jennings, and Charles L. Lowry, will be inducted into the Mount Vernon School District’s League of Honor during a special ceremony at halftime of the Mount Vernon vs. Mineola football game on Friday, Sept. 25.

The 2008-09 yearbooks have been delivered to the school and are available for pick up. Graduates are urged to pick their yearbooks up from Tracy Farr in the high school band hall.
