The search for a superintendent for Mount Vernon ISD is underway and input from community members on the desired characteristics is needed.

The annual kick-off party for CHEMPA, the Christian Home Educators of the Mount Pleasant Area is set for Thursday, Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the pavilion at Dellwood Park.  See the Aug. 6 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information.

High school students should pick up their schedules for their 2009-10 classes at the high school next week.  Senior on Tuesday, Aug. 11 junior students on Wednesday, Aug. 12, sophomore on Thursday, Aug. 13 and freshman on Friday, Aug. 14.
