Construction on the new MVISD elementary building is set to begin. The 90,210 sq. ft. building will have three pods which will contain 14 classrooms each. A computer lab and restroom facility will be located in each pod. See the July 9 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information.
Members of the board of trustees for Mount Vernon ISD and their elementary students who will have classes in the new school joined together for a ground breaking ceremony at the site of the new school on Friday, July 3.
A special meeting of the board of trustees for the Mount Vernon ISD is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9 in the high school library.
Ryan Scott, son of Jasper and Ginger Scott of Mount Vernon, graduated from LeTourneau University in Longview on May 2. Upon graduating, Mr. Scott completed his bachelor of science in business administration from LeTourneau where he was also a student athlete. Mary Beth Adams was listed on the Dean’s List for the Spring 2009 semester at Sam Houston State University. Miss Adams is a sophomore at the university studying mass communication. She is the daughter of Rodney and Anne Adams of Mount Vernon.
