A representative from the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) will be at the Mount Vernon school campus to conduct community meetings to help in finding a superintendent.

Band director Tonya Eckstein helps a band member position her horn correctly as the band practices their at attetion stantz. The band began practices the first week of August and will continue throughout the month in preparation for the upcoming football season.

The Board of Trustees for Mount Vernon ISD voted unanimously to set the proposed tax rate at $.99024 during their regular monthly meeting on Monday, Aug. 10. This is the third year in a row that the board has maintained this rate. See the August 13 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information.

More than 40 students who will be freshman at Mount Vernon High School this year attended Fish Camp on Thursday, Aug. 6 at the school.
