Hiske Schoonhoven graduated from Texas State University - San Marcos with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies on May 15. Miss Schoonhoven is a 2001 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and is the daughter of Jurjen and Antsje Schoonhoven of Mount Vernon.

The First National Bank of Mount Vernon recently donated a new scoreboard to Mount Vernon ISD for use at the football field. The 17 1/2’ x 25’ scoreboard was purchased from Daktronics. Capitol Construction was awarded the bid to install the equipment. They were assisted by Fowler and Son Construction. The board includes LED lights and a messenger board.

Lauren Moseley received a bachelor of science in nursing degree in graduation ceremonies at the University of Texas at Tyler on May 8.

Janessa Alyse Malone of Mount Vernon has been named to the President’s Honor Roll at Stephen F. Austin State University for the spring semester.
