Kelsey and Cristy Whitlock were valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively for the class of 113 students at Mount Vernon High School for 2009.

Baukje Talsma and Emily Lawrence were validictorian and salutatorian, respectively for the class of 112 students at Mount Vernon Junior High. Miss Talsma had a grade point average of 96.0357 followed by Miss Lawrence with a 95.5714.

Laura Butler Cauthen will serve as the guest speaker at the Mount Vernon High School Commencement Ceremonies at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30 at Tiger Stadium.

The Optic-Herald is compiling a comprehensive list of all students at Mount Vernon high school who have received scholarships this year.  The list will be published in the Graduation Edition on May 28.  Any parent or student with information about a scholarship awarded outside of the school should contact Marie Dacus at 903-537-2228 or e-mail marie(at)mt-vernon.com with the additional scholarship information.
