Mount Vernon school board accepts Flanagan’s resignation
The board of trustees for the Mount Vernon schools accepted the resignation of Superintendent Rick Flanagan during a special called meeting on Monday, May 18. The effective date of his resignation is Dec. 31, 2009. He is retiring from public school service after 37 years. See the May 21 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information.
Third place winnner
John Michael Davis, Jr., a senior at Saltillo ISD, won third place and a $2,500 scholarship at the fifth annual Future Chef of America High School Culinary Scholarship Competition.
