Members are being sought for the Poor Boys buying team to purchase livestock at the annual Mount Vernon - Saltillo FFA and 4-H Project Show on Saturday, March 28 at the Livestock Pavilion located on FM 115.

Carlos Leyva, a Mount Vernon High School art student,  displays his charcoal self portrait that was chosen to advance to the state VASE competition to be in Austin in April as a participant in the annual Regional Visual Arts Scholastic Event on Saturday, Feb. 28. Both the fourth and fifth grade and the sixth grade Destination Imagination teams will compete at the state competition in Houston on April 3-4 after winning first place at the Regional Destination Imagination competition at Poteet High School in Mesquite on Feb. 28.  See the March 5 edition of the Optic-Herald for detailed information.

The Third Grade Destination Imagination Team, “The Singing Bean Team” will attend the state competition in Houston on Saturday, April 4.
