Mount Vernon Optic-Herald

Members of the Mount Vernon Intermediate Junior Explorers organization gathered items to send care packages to soldiers in Basrah, Iraq. Included in the packages were food, hygiene items, entertainment items, and personal letters to the soldiers. More than 172 men are housed in three man tents in the area they sent the packages. The group decided to carry out the project to show their appreciation to the troops during the holiday season.
