Preliminary results from the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills tests (TAKS) were released by the Mount Vernon Independent School District during the June school board meeting. In 24 of the 27 tests taken, MVISD students scored higher than their counterparts across the state, tied with the state average scores in two tests, and was one percentage point below on the one remaining test.
