Six members of the Mount Vernon High School Tiger Band competed in the Region IV UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest and received first divison medals at North Lamar High School in Paris on Saturday, Feb. 7.
Participants were Jessikah Salaverria, flute solo; Jessi McCandless, flute solo; Sadie Bostick, french horn solo; Haley Golden, clarinet solo; Abi Contreras; alto saxophone solo; and Shelby Zinn, clarinet solo.
Miss Zinn qualified to advance to state competition with her memorized clarinet solo, Concertino by Giuseppie Tartini. She will perform at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition in San Marcos in May. “Congratulations to all of these students for a job well done,” said band director Tanya Eckstein.
