Mount Vernon Optic-Herald

On Friday, April 1, 2011, the beginner band at Mount Vernon Intermediate School participated in the 41st annual Sandy Lake Park FunFest on Friday, April 1 and received a second division rating. Each spring, Sandy Lake Park welcomes more than 1,500 bands, orchestras, and choirs during their competition. The contest is adjudicated by nationally known judges, and the groups are given constructive comments as a learning experience. For more information, see the April 14 edition of the Optic-Herald.
