The coaches for the 2009 Youth Football Association will have a meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 26 at the Franklin County Courthouse Annex, north of the Sheriff’s Office. The coaches will be discussing the upcoming try-out event set for Saturday, Aug. 8. See the July 23 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information.

The young girls from Kid’s Under Construction spent Monday, July 6 learning the hard work that goes into being a Mount Vernon High School Tiger Cheerleader.  The group learned cheers, chants, and dances along side the cheerleaders during their summer practice. 

The competitors in the third annual Turtle Derby races did not seem fazed by the high heat and humidity on Saturday, July 11.

The annual Mount Vernon Lady Tiger volleyball camp is set for Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 12-14 in the Mount Vernon High School Gym. The event is for students who will be in the fourth through eighth grades in 2009. See the July 16 edition of the Optic-Herald for more information.
