Darlings headed to state

The Franklin County Darlings All Star team will compete in the State Tournament in Sulphur Springs July 10-12. The team earned the spot after going 3-1 in the district tournament in Mount Vernon June 26-28. See the July 2 edition of the Optic-Herald for more details. Ponytails having fund-raiser

The Franklin County Ponytails All Star team is conducting a fund-raising event on Saturday, July 4 at the old Tire City building in Mount Vernon to earn money for their trip to the state tournament on July 10 in Liberty. The group is having a rummage sale that will begin at 8 a.m.

PeeWee team is secondThe Franklin County PeeWee All Star team finished the All Star Tournament in Sulphur Springs in second place. The team was defeated in the championship game with a score of 9-10 to the Sulphur Springs Nationals team.
