The Athletic Booster Club is getting prepared for the 2009-10 school year. A meeting has been set for Monday, June 1 at 6 p.m. at Mount Vernon Cafe to fill two vacant positions on the club’s board of directors and to discuss opportunities for service for the coming year.

The Mount Vernon Little Dribbler’s third and fourth grade girls all-star team competed in the Canton All-Star Tournament May 7-9. The team played Westwood on May 7 and won.

Colton Keener will compete at the state track and field meet in the 100 meter dash event. He qualified for the event after placing first at the regional meet on Saturday, May 16 with time of 10.89 seconds. His event will be at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, June 6 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin. Jaclyn Herrera, a Mount Vernon High School graduate and a sophomore at Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., was one of two softball players at the university named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Softball All-Tournament team.
