The almost 80 year rivalry between the Mount Vernon and Winnsboro football teams will be brought to the fore front this week. The teams will meet in Winnsboro with kick off at 7:30 p.m.
The game will also be featured as the Dairy Queen Big Game of the Week. After conducting the traditional pep rally in Tiger gym at 3 p.m. on Friday, the band and cheerleaders will gather in the parking lot of the Mount Vernon Dairy Queen for a “Fan Rally”. Members of the community are urged to don their purple attire and join the event. The festivities will begin promptly at 4 p.m. A film crew from Fox Sports Southwest will be on location to film the rally as well as highlights from the game later that evening.
“We need everyone to park at the carpet store and the old cafe parking lot,” Dairy Queen owner Joe Scally said.
