Most departments cleared from the scene of the fire on CR SE3430. Some South Franklin volunteers and members of the Texas Forest Service remained on the scene to eliminate several trees and stumps still smouldering. No structures were damaged.
1:00 p.m. Update
No roads are now being blocked. The fire fighting efforts are all off road away from normal traffic routes.
Noon Oct. 13
South Franklin, Purley, Mount Vernon, North Franklin and Winnsboro volunteer fire departments have responded to a report of a wildfire on County Road SE3430(N) off FM 3357 near Caraway Farms. The fire was reported around noon and at last estimate was just over five acres in size.
Persons are urged to avoid that area in order to eliminate disrupting efforts of the firefighters. Through traffic is being blocked from the north end of CR SE3430, southeast of FM 3357, and north of CR SE3340.
A dozier from the Winnsboro department was on the scene, and a second dozier from the Texas Forestry Service is requested.
No structures are currently reported to be threatened by the fire.
