Spring festival moves to Lindale, Fall wine event stays

Mixed emotions swept through the Mount Vernon Main Street Board with the formal announcement last week that the spring wine event sponsored jointly by the organization with the Piney Woods Wine Trail Association (PWWTA) was spirited away.

“Fashion with a Twist” to open 2nd Saturday season

A twist on the traditional fashion show will be used to show off not only clothing but  a variety of retail items, such as furniture and foods, including desserts, as Mount Vernon’s Main Street Alliance springs into the season

Daycare collects items for food bank

Kids Under ConstructionKids Under Construction recently collected approximately 900 items during its annual food drive to benefit the Community Food Bank of Franklin County. A total of seven classrooms collected items for the event.

Initial meeting set for “Paint our Town” project

In an effort to revitalize and beautify residential areas of Mount Vernon, a “Paint Our Town” project is being organized. The goal is to completely paint the exterior of 10 homes in one day

Chamber of Commerce banquet Saturday, February 27

The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Membership Banquet will be Saturday, February 27 and a crowd of more than 250 is expected. The banquet will be in the Family Life Center at the First United Methodist Church.

Assistance programs awarded

Crescent Club halfway to its membership goal

The Franklin County Genealogy Society through the recently formed “Cresent Club,” has reached the halfway mark towards its $50,000 goal necessary to expand its facilities into an adjacent Main St. building.
