9-1-1 dispatchers honored by ATCOG

 Sandie Embrey of ATCOG presents Supervisor Joe Shadbolt  with a certificate of appreciation for all of the dispatchersIn celebration of National Telecommunicators Week, April 13-19, the Ark Tex Council of Governments (ATCOG) 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Program honored the dedicated dispatchers from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office by presenting them a certificate of appreciation.

Knott to be Day of Prayer speaker

Chili cook off raises $10,000 for food bank

Chili cook off winnersAlmost $10,000 was raised for the Community Food Bank of Franklin County through the efforts in conjunction with the chili cook off on Saturday, April 19.
The event had originally been planned for December, but inclement weather caused it to be postponed. A total of $8,800 was pledged to the food bank in December.

On-line registration deadline Friday for inaugural BirdFest

The deadline for on-line registration is Friday, April 25 to attend the inaugural Prairies and Pineywoods BirdFest. The festival registration fee of $70 covers all tours and events except the Saturday evening Keynote Speaker/Dinner.
