Wine in the Pines well attended

More than 1,000 wine glasses were distributed to visitors as they proceeded to the wine tasting area on the downtown plaza in Mount Vernon.

“Ladies Night Out” planned for November 21

The third annual “Ladies Night Out” shopping extravaganza is being planned for Thursday, November 21 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Mount Vernon. “We decided to move our event into the downtown area this year,” Crystal Copeland, president of the Downtown Business Association said.

Stouts Creek group seeking veteran names

The names of veterans buried in the Stouts Creek Cemetery near Saltillo are being sought. Members of the Stouts Creek Cemetery Association are organizing a veterans marker dedication set for 11 a.m. Saturday, November 9.

Franklin County Library Recipe exchange November 5

The Franklin County Library will have their third annual Holiday Craft Show and Recipe Exchange on Tuesday, November 5. The event will be at 5:30 p.m. at the library. Members of the community are encouraged to attend the event and to bring a dish to share and a copy of the recipe.

Rotary to celebrate 75 years with scholarship dinner

The Mount Vernon Rotary Club will celebrate its 75th Anniversary with a dinner November 16 to raise money for motivational scholarships. The club has provided scholarships to 136 students since 2000

Alamo Museum Halloween Saturday, October 26

The annual Halloween Party at the Alamo Mission Museum is Saturday, October 26. The gates will open at 6:30 p.m. Activities will get underway at 7 p.m. and will continue until around 9 p.m.
