Harvest on Main dinner tickets on sale Monday

Tickets for the Harvest on Main dinner set for Friday, October 21 will go on sale at 9 a.m. Monday, September 19. The dinner is part of the Mount Vernon Food & Wine Festival.

New veterinarian joins Mount Vernon clinic

The Mount Vernon Veterinary Clinic staff includes, front row, Dr. Sherry Craycraft, Dr. Bishop Curry, Assistant Karina Artaza, back row, Assistant Pascual Fiscal, Groomer Tina Jaggers, and Office Manager Tammy McEnturff.Dr. Sherry Craycraft has joined the Mount Vernon Veterinary Clinic and began seeing patients last week. She has moved to Mount Vernon and will be handling the day to day patient care.

Posse event provides lots of competition, entertainment

More than 2,000 people attended the Franklin County Sheriff’s Posse Labor Day Weekend Rodeo over its two day run on Saturday and Sunday, September 3 and 4.

Kendell Blake crowned 2016 Franklin County Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo Queen

Young ladies representing for the coming year include Princess Zia Miller, Queen Kendell Blake, Junior Queen McKenna Wiler, and Junior Princess Ronica Norwood.Kendell Blake of Sulphur Springs was crowned as the 2016 Franklin County Sheriff’s Posse Queen during the Labor Day Weekend Rodeo on Sunday, September 4.

Coffee house aims to become a community hub

Shannon Ostertag and Callah Miller behind the ­serving counter at the Watermelon Mills Coffee House. The resurgence of life on the downtown Mount Vernon Square has taken another step forward with the opening of the business on Saturday, September 3.
