Head Start gets new stove

An anonymous donor provided a new stove for the kitchen at the Mount Vernon Head Start program center. An anonymous donor provided a new stove for the kitchen at the Mount Vernon Head Start program center.  The GE 30 inch self-cleaning stove was recently delivered free by Lowe’s Store employees (rear).

Certified food manager course offered locally

The Texas AgriLife Extension Service will be offering a Certified Food Manager Course in Franklin County at the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. The two-day course will be Tuesday and Wednesday, April 22-23.

City, county clean-ups continue

The city and county-wide Spring Clean-up continues this week. It is not too late to take advantage of the free disposal. For details on disposal places and items accepted for the city and each of the four county precincts, see the April 10 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
