Lions organize

Fall classes to be offered at library

School is back in session and the sidewalks are almost finished, so the Franklin County Library has scheduled activities for children after school and a series of computer classes for adults. For details about these programs, see the September 12 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

Waffles for everyone

Cora Peckham takes a big bite of her waffle at the Huddle House’s customer appreciation event Cora Peckham takes a big bite of her waffle at the Huddle House’s customer appreciation event on Saturday, September 7.  The restaurant served 377 guests during the three hour event with 210 opting for the 50 cent waffles and 113 requested the $2.99 cheeseburger meal. The company gave away door prizes and provided a bounce house.

Volunteers needed for Handicapable Rodeo

Volunteers are needed  in a variety of capacities for the annual Franklin County Handicapable Rodeo on Friday, September 20 at the Duke Riding Arena on CR SE3285. Each of the participants needs a buddy to see them through the activities of the day.
