Boathouse designs should elevate watercraft from flooding

Phil Bullock of Carollo Engineers presented a review of boathouse design and compliance requirements at the June meeting of the Franklin County Water District’s Board of Directors. This was to alleviate the misconception that a boathouse must be 25 feet tall to meet the new requirements. The changes were made to reduce or eliminate the damage to water craft caused by the occasional rising lake levels. For more information, see the July 6 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
