The First United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon celebrated its’ tenth year of Stephen Ministry on Sunday, June 3 with the commissioning of five new Stephen Ministers. “This is a ministry that touches people in the church and in the community with one-to-one Christian Care,” Jackie Stempel, volunteer and coordinator for the program, said. Through Stephen Ministry, a team of caregivers, known as Stephen Ministers, is equipped to provide quality Christian care to people facing a variety of personal crises.
