Franklin County budget hearings for the 2014 Budget year begin this afternoon. This is the chance for the various groups and departments to present their reasons behind the individual budget item requests.
Letters were sent to county elected officials and organizations normally receiving some funding through the county the second week of June. Written requests were due earlier this week. A balance sheet and profit/loss statement is required on the most recent year ended and were requested from non-governmental agencies. Standardized forms are being used to make comparisons easier, according to Franklin County Auditor Tina Phillips. For more infornation, see the June 27 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
