Franklin County Commissioners Court members Monday unanimously proposed a lower ad valorem tax rate of $.448488 for 2013 and approved a seven year Limited Tax Note to fund two costly projects and protect the county’s reserve funds.
Members seemed pleased with the lower rate. “If a property’s value is the same as last year then the owner will see a slight decrease in taxes,” County Auditor Tina Phillips stated. For more details from the meeting, see the Aug. 15 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
